• Anthropic dropped MCP, an open-source Model Context Protocol that transforms how AI systems interact with external data sources.
Pietro Schirano built a server that supports EverArt AI’s API to let Claude generate images. Alex Albert, Anthropic’s Head of Claude Relations, gave Claude the ability to search the web using the Brave Search API.
Both of these things have been possible with ChatGPT for a while. It can search the web with Bing, it can generate images with DALL-E, but Anthropic’s MCP is different and far more powerful.

MCP follows a client-server architecture where applications like Claude Desktop, IDEs and AI tools outside of Anthropic’s ecosystem act as clients, and servers are light adapters that expose data sources. These sources could be remote like APIs for GitHub or Slack, or local files and databases, which is another thing Pietro Schirano played around with, giving Claude the ability to create local files.

OPENAI ROADMAP UPDATE FOR GPT-4.5 and GPT-5:

We want to do a better job of sharing our intended roadmap, and a much better job simplifying our product offerings.

We want AI to “just work” for you; we realize how complicated our model and product offerings have gotten.

We hate the model picker as much as you do and want to return to magic unified intelligence.

We will next ship GPT-4.5, the model we called Orion internally, as our last non-chain-of-thought model.

After that, a top goal for us is to unify o-series models and GPT-series models by creating systems that can use all our tools, know when to think for a long time or not, and generally be useful for a very wide range of tasks.

In both ChatGPT and our API, we will release GPT-5 as a system that integrates a lot of our technology, including o3. We will no longer ship o3 as a standalone model.

The free tier of ChatGPT will get unlimited chat access to GPT-5 at the standard intelligence setting (!!), subject to abuse thresholds.

Plus subscribers will be able to run GPT-5 at a higher level of intelligence, and Pro subscribers will be able to run GPT-5 at an even higher level of intelligence. These models will incorporate voice, canvas, search, deep research, and more.

Did you know that both Anthropic and OpenAI have prompt generator tools that can save you probably 90-95% of time writing prompts for LLM's?

*Disclaimer* you will need to create an account on their developer platform and fund it with $5, but there is no ongoing fee to access this platform, and the $5 will go a LONG way for creating prompts.

Prompt engineering is important, there's no doubt about that, but the model companies are making more progress towards a world where it becomes less important. With every new model that comes out, the reliance on well structured and engineered prompts becomes less important because the models get better at understanding user intents. On top of that, we could start seeing some of these companies implement a type of workflow similar to this prompt generator tool, which translates your requests into well structured prompts automatically.

You will still need to be able to diagnose and troubleshoot your prompts if they don't produce the desired result, but using these tools can save you a massive amount of time. For most of my use cases, I will typically use the Anthropic console to write my prompts, and it requires very little editing.

Have you tried these tools out yet, if so, what are your impressions of the quality of the prompts they produce?
