On Tuesday, OpenAI released new tools designed to help developers and enterprises build AI agents — automated systems that can independently accomplish tasks — using the company’s own AI models and frameworks. The tools are part of OpenAI’s new Responses API, which lets businesses develop custom AI agents that can perform web searches, scan through company files, and navigate websites, much like OpenAI’s Operator product. GPT-4.5 is designed for more natural conversation. We’ve also seen it perform well at agentic planning and execution. Get started with GPT-4.5 in the API GPT-4.5 supports function calling, Structured Outputs, vision, streaming, system messages, evals, and prompt caching. It’s available via our Chat Completions, Assistants, and Batch APIs today. GPT-4.5 is very large and compute-intensive, so it’s not a replacement for GPT-4o. A typical query costs on average $68 / 1M tokens, with cache discounts ($75 / 1M input tokens, $37.5 /1M cached input, $150 / 1M output). Texsted out Proxy AI and here is my frank observation: - Idea is amazing and various influencers compared it to the OpenAI operator - It shows the steps it takes and it seems reasonable to make scheduled processes (Automations) - offers Scheduled Automations which are amazing - It sticks to the 5 sessions a day strictly regardless if the AI gets stuck or prematurely exits/finishes task whether it was done correct or not - AI agent can get stuck browsing a single page for all steps unti it exhausts max number of steps allowed per session (you may have to mentione in prompt AI should not visit/research same page more than once) - there are roughly 38- 40 steps per session and if your agent is not able to complete tasks withing those allocated session stops and you have to start entirely new session (for trial accounts only of course) Overall this does seem worth the $20 tag particularly for the automations and templates available.

We will next ship GPT-4.5, the model we called Orion internally, as our last non-chain-of-thought model.
